Looking for something spooky to do this Halloween weekend? How ’bout a cemetery tour of Harrisburg? Here Lies Harrisburg is a basically a candlelight exploration of Harrisburg’s history.
This Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27, sign-up for an enlightening night charged with local history. Tour the grounds of two of Harrisburg’s historic graveyards “where everyone from bureaucrats to bank robbers are laid to rest.”
There’s food, too, and art. Friends of Midtown presents its first “Brush with Death,” an exhibit celebrating Harrisburg’s people and places.

At Harrisburg Cemetery: 521 N.13th Street (Established 1845)
- Historic Caretaker Manse Open for Tour
- Carriage Rides
- 19th century horse drawn hearse on display
- Spirit Society of PA lecture at the former Receiving Vault
- Re-creation of the 19th century funeral service of Mrs. William Putt at the Caretaker Manse (Mrs Putt passed away at the home in 1858, and is buried at Harrisburg Cemetery)
- Guided Tours of the Grounds
At East Harrisburg Cemetery 2260 Herr Street (Established 1875)
- Ethnic food honoring the Greek Heritage of East Harrisburg Cemetery
- Tour of East Harrisburg’s Magnificent Mausoleum
- Art exhibit paying tribute to the lives of those have left a legacy on Harrisburg
- Carriage rides

Location: East Harrisburg and Harrisburg Cemeteries
Time: 7-11 Open Both Nights.
Special Midnight Guided Tours of Harrisburg Cemetery will also be offered. (Reservations Required).
Admission: $10 Adults
$5 Children 14-5 (Must be accompanied by an adult)
Children Under 5 Free
Special Midnight Tours of Harrisburg Cemetery $7.00 Adults, $5,00 Children 14-5, Children under 5 Free.
Two Tours offered each night beginning at 11 P.M. and 12 A.M. Reservations Required and Limited.
Parking and Shuttle:
Parking and shuttle service provided. Shuttle service will be available between the two cemeteries. Free parking is also available in the State parking lot just outside the main gate of Harrisburg Cemetery at State and 13th Streets
