Konnichiwa, described in The P-N as a “Pan-Asian” restaurant, opened last night. HarrisburgNightlife and Floor9 have already made their decision on it, but my column next week will go in further depth (and, I’ve actually been there).
The new inside is a complete contrast to the dingy boxcar look of the outside of the diner. It’s amazing what some carpet, wall tiles and tasteful decorations can do. The menu borders on Asian (we tried the edamame hummus, served with pomegranate seeds and crisp wontons, and it was very good) with beef pho, raw beef, shrimp tempura and the like. Chef staff is from Carmella’s.
The cocktail menu features wines, vodka infusions and martini-like concoctions.
Music is lounge-y beats, courtesy of Jamie Pascotti.
I’m still not used to the contrast to the outdoor section, but that will close soon for the season.
