Two updates care of the Dauphin County Office of Community and Economic Development:
The Vartan Group plans to build a 100,000-square-foot mixed-use building at Sixth and Reilly streets in Harrisburg. Officials announced that construction could begin before the end of the year, pending city approval of site development plans. Plans call for a sit-down restaurant and other retail shops on street level. The upper floors will have about 40 residential condos that will sell for between $150,000 and $350,000.
Work has begun on a new park in Harrisburg’s midtown area – Urban Meadows will be a block-long parkway that connects
Harrisburg Area Community College’s (HACC) Midtown Center with other midtown points between the 1500 blocks of North Third and North Fourth streets. Harrisburg development group Powers & Associates is developing the park. The park is part of the Midtown Master Plan the company designed to help revitalize midtown. Streetscape will be dug up and replaced with grass, trees and other plants in the park. It will include benches, accent lighting, decorative walkways, new pedestrian crosswalks, curb and street improvements and infrastructure enhancements. The park will also act as an outdoor living classroom for HACC students. It will include green features, including storm-water removal systems and plants that can be included in the school’s curriculum.Work is expected to be completed this summer.
