Save the Dates

Share Article

SaraInvite1 It was important for me to do “save the date” cards for our wedding simply beause we are inviting so many out of town guests to the Harrisburg area basically right after the holidays. I wanted to ensure that those who could would be able to make arrangements in time. Plus, save the dates are fun.

For this endeavor, I went to my favorite creative director and former roomie, “Tracella.” I gave her our colors (which I then switched on her halfway through the process – I’m such a fun client), but left the concept up to her.

Tracy wanted to skip the usual “refrigerator magnet” look and take the idea up a notch: a mantel card? Yes! A save-the-date pop-up card that sits upright on its own (though I do realize these still are adorning more fridges than mantels, and that’s okay too).

Our families are from different parts of Pennsylvania, and this would be one of few occasions when everyone would travel here, to our home base. Thus, Tracy created – instituting our colors – a map of the state for the pop-up. She watched a ‘how to’ video on youtube — done by an 11 year-old! You have to check this out:

I loved the concept, and with the help of family and good friends, we individually hand-cut and assembled these puppies ourselves. The printing – which was actually done on a high-quality color copier to save money rather than digital printing – was done at Capital Copy in Harrisburg for a GREAT price.
