There are a lot of people in Harrisburg that have a vested interest in helping to tend and grow our capital city. To this end, a strong arts and culture scene is vital — for both attracting outsiders to the city and for the betterment of its current residents.
Active community members have fostered campaigns like the monthly 3rd in the Burg series (tonight!), which features art galleries, restaurants and small businesses in downtown and midtown Harrisburg. Attending these events helps support the city and increase exposure of its arts scene.
It may be easy to forget that part of that arts scene includes our city’s only independent movie house. The concept is rare these days, and it’s important to recognize this gem we have in the Midtown Cinema.
However, the Midtown Cinema is struggling. Advances in technology demand that they upgrade their photographic film stock to digital if they hope to compete in today’s movie market.
