Pennsylvania-based sisters, The Hello Strangers, return to the Abbey Bar at Appalachian Brewing Co. this Saturday for a FREE show.
Hailing from Mercersburg, Pa., — via Austin, Texas — Larissa and Brechyn Chace return for their third performance at the Abbey, with the accompaniment of long-time bassist Dave Holzwarth, with Spencer Pheil on guitar and Trent Renshaw on drums.
The Hello Strangers perform original music written by the Chace sisters with nods to Americana folk traditions, modern indie rock, Texas country-folk, and roots rock, all tied together with lilting harmonies that only sisters can create.
Inspired largely by the music and scene in Austin – where the sisters lived for four years – the roadhouse bars and honky-tonks, laid-back vibe, incredible musicians the city is known for showcasing, and even the desert of west Texas helped shape The Hello Strangers sound, Brechyn said.
“Specific artists [who inspire us] include Townes Van Zandt, The Fabulous Ginn Sisters, Lucinda Williams, and Neko Case to name a few,” Brechyn said.
The Hello Strangers recently won the AirPlay Direct “Win An Americana Record Deal Contest” and will work with IMI Music in Nashville, Tennessee on their forthcoming album.
“We are very humbled and thrilled to have this opportunity,” Brechyn said. “Aside from that, we will be working with our touring band and gigging as often as possible, writing new songs, and having a hoot!”
The Hello Strangers play the Abbey Bar Saturday, May 4. Doors open at 8 p.m., begins at 9 p.m. Jake Lewis will open. No cover charge!
