Friday is Valentine’s Day. My advice? Sometimes simple is better.
My husband hates Valentine’s Day, and it really burns his tomatoes that it is the anniversary of when we first met. We don’t make too much of a deal out of it — especially considering our wedding anniversary was just last month and my birthday is about a month away — so for us, it means dinner in and maybe a movie. Maybe not.
Last year, we visited friends for a Valentine’s Day Taco Night, complete with themed playlist, and that was a blast.
This week on PennLive, I’ll have some outside-the-box V-Day ideas that go beyond an expensive prix fixe dinner and flowers.
Pennsylvania Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores offer some helpful tips as well. I love the breakfast recipe they’ve included below, and I’m planning to scour their Pinterest board for a nice, dark-liquored cocktail to make for dessert.
Dinner? I’m cooking lamb shanks. I’ll hit up Kirt at the Lemoyne Fine Wine & Good Spirits store for some affordable wine suggestions, likely a Chairman’s Selection.
