On Wednesday, we kicked-off the holiday season with plenty of good cheer with a Happy Hour at Garlic Poet & Grain+Verse.
The party spread across both restaurants, and I was thrilled to hear how many people finally made it to these restaurants. I heard a lot of, “I kept meaning to get here” and “this is my first time here!” and maybe a “you were right, Sara!”

Read Intern Jimi’s recent review of the Chef’s Table at Garlic Poet.
Chef Kurt Wewer outdid himself with two separate food stations for everyone to sample from both restaurants’ menus.
We also partnered with The Vineyard & Brewery at Hershey, and brewmaster Ryan made us a Very Special Firkin — his seasonal winter warmer aged on charred habaneros. It was lightly hot and so delicious. Meanwhile, Greg from the Vineyard side shared tastings of wines on the Garlic Poet side throughout the night.
I even posed as “Santa” for a small time, giving away some great prizes from local businesses.
Big thanks goes to:
- Brewery at Hershey – growler + cert for a free fill
- Polished Salon & Spa – gift card
- Cornerstone Coffeehouse – gift basket
- Harrisburg Beer Week – swag bags
Of course, this wouldn’t be a success without each and every one of YOU. I thank all of my friends, new and old, the regulars, the newbies, the “happened upons” and the “never missed a one.” You guys are the greatest.
Last — but never least — Thanks as always to our official event photographer, Bart Kaminski. Find the full album of photos from the event on Facebook and tag yourselves!
