Every day during the nine-day long festivities has a lot to offer, but if you can only make it to one day — be sure to make it the first Saturday. It is packed with something nearly anyone can enjoy from sun-up to sundown. Figure out your plan and start your week off the right way.

Early Risers

Al’s will be opening their doors and taps early to serve up this perfect morning beer. Start off this event-filled Saturday with one of the best beers in country.

A unique race that combines drinking local with running local. The race will follow a one-kilometer loop that starts at ZeroDay and runs a track through Midtown. You can run a 1K, 5K … whatever all while stopping to enjoy some drinks at ZeroDay and Ted’s Bar and Grill. I don’t run, but this is one race I might be able to get behind.

I always tell people that for the money, this is the best beer fest you could go to. Not only can you enjoy beer and other booze from around the state, you also have the opportunity to sample the best food that our state has to offer. This is something not to be missed.

If you can’t make it out early because you had to much fun at the V.I.P. Kick-Off Party the night before, then you will want to hit 2nd Street for two local beer events.

Short distance

These two events are both happening at the same time, but are right next to each other. Stop and have a few beers at each to show you support for the local beer.

A session IPA could be just the ticket after a few hours of drinking and eating. Arooga’s teamed up with Hop Headz and St. Boniface to brew Second Street Session IPA, which will tapped at the event along with a few other St. Boniface beers.

Join Tröegs for a special firkin of Solid Sender packed with whole-flower hops, plus a few select Scratch Beers from Troegs lineup and plenty of Troegs swag to giveaway.

If you’re a night owl or just looking to end the day at a great event

Support the cause and stay out late

Join Harrisburg River Rescue and ChivePA for a night of games, giveaways and rare beers. Funk Brewing Company will be bringing their Double Citrus IPA along with Apple Pie Beer, a brand new firkin created just for this event. The cost is $20 and ChivePA will be donating to Harrisburg River Rescue.

If you follow this agenda, you could get your Harrisburg Beer Week experience all in one day, although you might want to rest up because the rest of the week is just as full as this. Of course, please remember to celebrate responsibly. Check out the Harrisburg Beer Week hotel and transportation deals.
