Craft beer and the art scene have gone hand in hand since the inception of the craft revolution. Whether it’s the latest eye-popping branding on a piece of packaging or artwork in a tasting room, art is at the heart of the beer scene.
Our local Tröegs is no stranger to this concept. Their latest rebranding has put the emphasis of hand-drawn artwork back into all of the packaging, while still keeping in touch with some of their original concepts that we grew to know since the brewery’s inception.
Along with the artwork on the cans, bottles and cases, anyone who has been to Tröegs has seen the huge works of art displayed throughout the tasting room — and now they want to add even more.
With the opening of Tröegs new Splinter Cellar, which will boost production production of their Splinter Series beer like the recently released barrel-aged Flying Mouflan and Trogenator, an art gallery will be right above the brand new wooden foeders. It will be a unique space for Troegs to display “The Art of Troegs.”
This is where you come in.
For the 10th year Tröegs is holding their “Art of Troegs Contest” for anyone to submit any sort of art medium that utilizes their packaging. Anything from cans to bottle caps can be used to create the work.
Tröegs will chose a winner to be awarded $500, plus two tickets to the opening of the gallery where the piece will be featured.
So drink some Sunshine Pils cans, pop some bottle caps and get making.
If you need some inspiration Troegs has enlisted the services of some artists to lend inspiration.
