I am always a little bit intimidated when shopping because it’s hard to break out of my comfort zone. But seeing the quote, “She believed she could so she did,” emblazoned on the entrance to Nicole Taylor Boutique made me instantly believe I could look great in anything – even a pair of wide-leg jeans – in the store and conquer the world when I left.
Nicole Taylor carries women’s fashion and accessories catering to all walks of life, featuring modern wear-to-work styles, contemporary fashion, and formal wear. The boutique’s style is modern and trendy (but not too trendy), with edgy touches on classic ideas and silhouettes. It’s cool without being intimidating. Overall, Nicole Taylor is reminiscent of the chic shops you’d see in New York or Philadelphia (or the ones I just saw in Nashville), but still feels intimate and accessible – just like Lancaster.
Owner Nicole Vasquez (fashion lover and entrepreneur) works exclusively with independent designers, focusing on ethically sourced materials and brands that give back. Nicole Taylor Boutique also works with in-house designer YamilQ who offers alterations and custom designs. They also offer styling services (both in-store and at home) and shopping parties.
Vasquez was born and raised in Lancaster and returned to the city after moving away for a year. She’s become extremely involved in the city’s fashion and culture circles and you can tell she’s a true Lancaster-lover. In fact, she may have given the best description of Lancaster I’ve heard yet, “You used to have to go to Philly to find good food and fashion, but now Lancaster has everything you need. You don’t want to leave, you want to stay.”
