It’s hard to contain the excitement, but Harrisburg Beer Week is almost here!
With #HBGBeerWeek come a myriad of events to enjoy a pint of local craft beer. Whether it’s a tap takeover of hard-to-find brews, beer brunches, or one-of-a-kind craft beer experiences, you’re sure to find something for you.
While all of these events are about drinking local, a few breweries and businesses catered their efforts to demonstrating how vital craft beer is to the Keystone State.
PA Flavor
12-5 p.m., Saturday, April 21 at Farm Show Complex
Known as one of the best beer fests of the year, PA Flavor is a can’t miss event.
You have all-Pennsylvania breweries, distilleries, and restaurants strutting their stuff all in one place. Hop from Yards Brewing Co. to Weyerbacher Brewing, and back to taste the latest from ZerØday Brewing Co. all in a few steps.
I like to create my own little pairing adventure. I’ll grab food from one restaurant and search out which beer offering will pair well with my treat.
If you leave hungry, it’s your fault.
Poured in Pennsylvania
Premiere: Friday, April 20; Multiple showings throughout Harrisburg Beer Week at Whitaker Center’s Select Medical Digital Cinema
From the team that brought you Brewed in the Burg, comes Poured in PA. The GK Visual team logged thousands of miles going from brewery to brewery and bar to bar to capture the craft beer story of our state.
The team talks to more than 50 industry professionals from new breweries to the well-established, and even some they have yet to open their doors.
Poured in PA will run throughout #HBGBeerWeek at Whitaker Center’s Select Medical Digital Cinema.
Personally, this is what I am most looking forward to during Harrisburg Beer Week. I’ve seen the work that this team put into the project, and I can’t wait to see it up on the silver screen.
Tattered Flag Brewery and Still Works PA Preferred Night
Ever since the PA Preferred program kicked-off for breweries, I try to get my hands on any of these offerings.
Something about the fact that not only am I supporting the local brewery but a whole community is something that makes it more than just another pint of beer.
For this event, Tattered Flag is releasing its PA Preferred Pilsner made with all-PA malt. Plus, they are also featuring their PA Gin made with locally-sourced ingredients.
#BeerForGood is something we can all get behind.
“Farmers For American” Movie Screening and All-PA Beer Release
7-10 p.m., Tuesday, April 24 at Boneshire Brew Works
Farmers For America is a documentary that focuses on the drastic changes coming to local farmers as more and more people are starting to ask where the food comes from.
Boneshire will host an informal Q&A with local farmers, including a hop farmer, and will debut their all-Pennsylvania ingredient beer made with Sunny Brae hops and malt from Deer Creek Malthouse.
In the name of collaboration, the all-PA beer is aptly named Sunny Deershire Pale Ale and features toasted oats from Deer Creek Malthouse and Nugget and Cascade hops from Sunny Brae.
Take it easy after the crazy weekend, and see what it takes to be a farmer, with a few beers, of course.
How will you #supportPAbeer this Harrisburg Beer Week?
