Events of Summer #CheersHBG

Summer is at our doorstep.

We can almost feel the humidity creeping in. Shorts, flip-flops, and tanks are slowly making their way to the front of the closet. Heavier drinks are being replaced for their lighter counterparts.

Hello Sunshine Pils, it’s nice to have you back in the fridge again (even though I could have you all year-round).

When it comes to summer, we need to take advantage of every beautiful day we can get.

One way to make the most out of your 2018 summer is to add these upcoming events to your calendar.

Each one affords you the opportunity to get out and explore something new this summer.

Pop-Up Happy Hours at Strawberry Square

Our monthly get-together at Strawberry Square, this casual, midweek gathering in the mall’s Atrium features new-to-you breweries (sometimes before they open!), wineries, cideries, and distilleries for each event — plus live music every month.

These are totally free and can be an excellent break to your week.

Pop-Up Happy Hours “pop-up” (almost) every third Wednesday of the month.

Join us for the next one!

SoMa Pop-Up Block Party

Here’s your chance to party in the streets.

Our summer Block Party series is back for year two. We did make a slight adjustment to accommodate upcoming construction, but that didn’t stop the crowd from making the first event this year completely awesome.

The block parties are free to attend, but it is pay-as-you-go for beer, liquor, and food.

Boneshire Brew Works, ZerØday Brewing Co., and Ever Grain Brewing Co. will be serving up craft beer at each event, while you can catch either Tattered Flag Brewery and Still Works or Midstate Distillery mixing up seasonal cocktails.

Our live musical acts include Little Brother Band (June), The Jelly Bricks (July), and YAM YAM (August).

We’ll also have food from Bricco and new for this year, a rotating series of food trucks. Be sure to check out the Facebook events page for each event to see who is joining us.

Heads up: Our new home for the summer is Blackberry Tech (316 Blackberry St.). We’re just a few steps away from our original home on S. 3rd St.

Party under the lights with us!

Harrisburg VeggieFest

Harrisburg VeggieFest returns on Saturday, Aug. 18 with a few new twists.

VeggieFest is a celebration of local, healthy, plant-focused living. Attendees will be able to sample and purchase from craft breweries and ciders, local restaurants, and other food vendors.

You’ll be able to shop from plant-friendly vendors, see live cooking demonstrations and participate in workout classes like yoga all for one price.

New for this year is the first-ever VeggieFest Challenge: Faux Burger Showdown. Local restaurants face-off to prove who has the best meatless burger in the area.

Keep up with HBG VeggieFest!

We’re always adding new events, so be sure to check back with us often. HINT: There could be a very overdue Happy Hour on the horizon.
