For many people, weekends are cheat days. You may not make it to the gym, you may abandon your typical salad for a cheeseburger and you may replace your lemon water with a beer or two. (Ok, well at least that’s how weekends usually look for me.)
However, this Saturday is Thrive Fit Fest, an all-day fitness festival showcasing today’s most popular workouts from the area’s biggest studios.
Thrive Fit Co., a group of health and wellness pros that offer frequent pop-up fitness classes throughout the greater Harrisburg area, is taking over FNB Stadium for this day-long event.
Four stages simultaneously will host a variety of “classes” including HIIT workouts, boxing, yoga, barre, POUND and Zumba, all to the soundtrack of a live DJ. It’s basically a mix-and-match gym pass, and like a beer or wine fest (or any type of fest), you can sample several different workouts throughout the day.

Here’s how I would tackle the day:
8-8:30 a.m. Beauty, Braids & Buzzes (By Joseph’s Vintage Barbershop & Salon), Stage 3
Get your hair out of the way and ready to work out!
9-9:30 a.m. OmniStrong (Led by April Tabor), Stage 1
Boot camp style workout of cardio intervals and strength training exercises.
11:15-11:45 Barre (Led by Marissa Signor, PureBarre Mechanicsburg), Stage 1
Ballet-based and inspired workout focused on toning and strength training. It’s super trendy and I’ve been dying to try it!
12:15-12:45 Kickboxing “Lights Out” (Led by Kelly Potteiger and Jenna Utsick Walsh, Central Penn Health), Stage 1
Kickboxing workout combining high-intensity cardio intervals and kickboxing moves.
1:30-2:30 (If you’re still alive) Warrior Workout and Stretching (Led by Inspired Physical Therapy and Thrive Fit Co.), Stage 4
Last session of the day to wrap up!
The festival also features stress management workshops, cooking demonstrations, health and wellness screenings and a “market” with more than 50 vendors. Plus, there will be super cool extras all day, including a braid bar and a #selfielove photo booth.
All fitness levels are welcome, as the workouts offer modified and advanced moves to accommodate everyone. This a great opportunity to amp up your favorite workout routine or find a new studio to visit.
Don’t forget your sneakers and a yoga mat! You’ll get a free swag bag full of fitness goodies with your ticket purchase, but bring an extra water bottle or cash to grab a snack at the market.
