Flashback Friday: Central PA’s Redeux is a shopping blast from the past

Share Article

I went to Brooklyn over Memorial Day weekend this year and visited a “crafter’s hall” during my visit. It was essentially a small mall full of different artists, crafters, and makers. It seemed to have something for every style and interest and it was so cool to see all the artists inside under one roof.

I remembered Redeux Vintage, a vintage shop, had recently opened in downtown Lancaster so I was excited to visit when I got back to Pa.

Time got away from me (I had six weddings this summer/fall) but I finally got to stop in the shop.

Spoiler alert: it was just as cool and hip as I expected and a fun blast to the past.

Redeux Vintage is modeled after the classic antique mall idea and format, only it’s much more modern and organized.

Owners Alex and Avery Devoe launched their first location in downtown York a few years ago and opened the new Lancaster shop earlier this year. Both stores carry vintage apparel, accessories, and decor from an eclectic variety of vendors and locations.

The Devoes curate the smaller Lancaster shop with their own finds, traveling across the country to find unique pieces to fill the showroom. They currently carry clothing from the 1980s and 1990s as well as decor and trinkets from the 1960s through the 1990s. Their collection of college crewneck sweatshirts are amazing (I put two on my Christmas list already), and I’m planning on stopping by again to pick up the prettiest pink and gold vase that matches my living room perfectly.

The Devoes’ vibe fits right in with the artsy atmosphere of Lancaster city, and it’s in a prime Downtown spot, right above Prince Street Cafe and across from the Fulton Theatre on Prince Street.

The York 3000 square foot location is more of an emporium featuring 30 vendors selling their own curated collections or handmade pieces. Merchants offer apparel and accessories, as well as furniture and home decor dating back to the 1950s. Redeux York is more streamlined than your typical antique mall so shopping and browsing aren’t overwhelming. Don’t worry, there’s still a ton of funky, groovy and classic stuff to browse. It’s a unique marketplace, sure to pique the interest of anyone into vintage finds.

Either store is a fun place to explore and you’re bound to find something unique and new to you.

You can visit Redeux in Lancaster at 17 N Prince Street or in York at  113 S Duke Street. Follow their finds on Facebook and Instagram (York, Lancaster) too!
