Brunch in Harrisburg has evolved over the last five years. While today’s options are vast for either day of the weekend, ask any Harrisburger and you will discover there weren’t always so many options in the ‘Burg.
Today, Café 1500 is one of the leaders in the Harrisburg brunch game. They were one of the first to offer the concept of Saturday brunch, realizing not everything can attend brunch on a Sunday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Of course, it’s not just the days of the week setting them apart. Café 1500 knocks it out of the park from food and beverages to customer service, and they are bringing home the hardware to prove it.
Café 1500 recently was named:
- Best Brunch, Susquehanna Style Magazine – Best of Harrisburg 2018
- Simply the Best Brunch, Harrisburg Magazine – 2019 Readers’ Choice
- OpenTable Diner’s Choice
“We have seen brunch increase in the past 5 years,” said Day Decker, Café 1500 Assistant General Manager. “I think it’s that people love Bloody Marys and Mimosas, especially with us. We have the Big Bottom Mimosas that encourage sharing. It brings everyone together.”
Tried and true, brunch at Café 1500 has a consistent menu — but it is far from boring. Enjoy their twist on the classics, like Fried Chicken & Pancakes, or choose from one of their amazing benedicts. Most of their classic brunch items have been on the menu for a long time; it’s just part of the environment that keeps brunch lovers coming back.
According to Decker, the foundation of a good brunch has little to do with the food (although to my taste buds this is high on the importance list). Instead, Decker said it’s more about the customer service and the environment that sets the tone for a Café 1500 experience.
With a ‘say yes’ mentally, Decker loves working with customers to provide the best of the brunch experience, and her team is focused on projecting their love and good vibes into their customers’ visit.
Café 1500 transformed brunch to an upscale casual experience; this is your go-to for a foodie experience. Café 1500 perfected their secret Bloody Mary recipe, and Decker gave me a sneak peek of their Bloody Mary creation for the 4th of July weekend.
This weekend’s special feature for this weekend is the all American Picnic Bloody including a skewer with a chicken wing, sausage, burger slider all on a Bloody Mary. That gets my mouth watering!
Best practices: Call-ahead for reservations at Café 1500, though they always try to keep a few spots for that casual walk-in hungry with the brunchies!
