Blogging is back, folks! We’re starting a regular feature highlighting some of our local bloggers and influencers. First up is Shantell Robertson, local fashion and lifestyle blogger.

The beginning
How/when did you start blogging, and what first inspired you?
I started blogging in 2014 when I worked as a jewelry stylist. I began my blog as a way to reach out to more customers but very quickly realized that people were more interested in what I was wearing, not my jewelry. I was first inspired by other bloggers and their photos and knew I could do that too.
Day in the life
What is a typical day like for you?
Where to begin — I’m still trying to figure out how to work full time, create content for the blog, make time for myself, my family, blogger event, friend meet-ups, and Adulting chores – groceries, errands, etc.
6/6:30 am – COFFEE
- Brand correspondences and/or Pitch to brands/apply to Brand campaigns.
- Get ready for work (which I’m always running out the door because all I want to do is blog-related work)
7:20 am – COMMUTE and listen to Podcast
8 am – 4:30 pm – Work my FT/M-F, J-O-B. I’ll pitch a brand or apply to a brand campaign in the morning.
LUNCH BREAK
- 15 min walk
- Either form on Fashion illustrations or work on the blog /pitching/ responding to brand emails/ photo editing & selecting/posting on IG/brainstorming photoshoot outfits
5 pm – Either workout at Fourteen Forty Athletics or walk [my dog] Breezy
EVENING TIME
- Blogger events / photoshoots/ pitching /photo editing / etc (that’s if i’m not doing that other lunch)
- Cook Dinner, then walk breezy with Mike and watch ‘our shows’ (I”m watching Game of Thrones series – i’m late to the game)

What do you enjoy most from blogging?
Being able to meet and connect with local women and people all over the world on this social platform (IG), and sharing stories and being able to relate to each other on what life throws your way.
I love the empowering and inspiration we get from each other. The positive energy. I love the community, love meeting new people and how we can make an impact just by being our authentic genuine selves. I love sharing my knowledge with other bloggers. Love helping local businesses and even worldly brands/businesses with getting exposure. To be able to authentically collaborate together. I love the feeling of hoping and knowing you made something smile and making long-lasting friendships and business relationships.
AND I LOVE GETTING DM’S FROM MY FOLLOWERS! IT’S SUCH A PERSONAL CONVERSATION, AND I LOVE HOW IG IS AN ICE BREAKER FOR WHEN YOU MEET IN PERSON.
All about those #goals
What do you hope to accomplish through your work?
Being able to help bloggers, businesses, and non-bloggers who follow me, give advise, lift them up. I hope to inspire them at the end of the day and leave them smiling knowing that I genuinely care about creating good content and want to see them succeed.
For my blog, my goal is to have an intern or an assistant to help with the tasks that take up a lot of my time (editing and posting, and taking my iPhone photos), to do this full time, and travel around helping other businesses exposure, attend fashion shows, be a guest speaker on a blogger panel, turn my sunroom into my legit office, and someday either make Fashion Illustration products, or a line of clothes.
Side Hustle
What’s your day job, if applicable? What role does it have in what you do?
Insurance Broker for Car Dealers — None. It’s just a J-O-B that helps pay the bills. I work in a cubicle all day, answer phones, emails, code enrollments and scan all day.
My previous profession in Law Enforcement taught me people skills, mental toughness, problem-solving, how to do things [that make me] afraid, push my limits, initiative, confidence, independence, integrity, GRIT, and teamwork.
