Dining at Home 231 with your safety in mind
If you’re looking to dine out these days, may I direct your attention to Home 231?
The quaint restaurant on downtown Harrisburg’s North Street is open for business, following all recommended precautions and regulations, and has expanded its outdoor seating to make dining out easier (and delicious).

The restaurant has extended its outdoor seating beyond their adorable courtyard into the former parking lot adjacent to the restaurant.
Roses and tropical plumes accent a brightly painted mural. Pops of yellow umbrellas provide shade for diners at tables or choose to gather with your group at lounge-y vignettes. All situated more than six feet from other diners for your safety.

Home 231 continues to take the current climate seriously. A chalkboard out front alerts diners and imbibers what they can expect — and what is expected of customers.
The joy of dining out
Start your evening with a specialty cocktails. 90-degree temps call for the Cool As A Cucumber, a classic blend of Hendrick’s Gin, elderflower, and cooling mint and cucumber.

The Midtown Spritz is another great idea — vodka, Aperol, strawberry balsamic topped with Prosecco.
The Mezcal Rita also caught my eye as an excellent summer choice — mezcal and watermelon with a chili salt rim? Sign me up.

Of course, sometimes there’s nothing more refreshing than a lovely glass of your favorite varietal. I’m on a big rosé and sauvignon blanc kick right now (and most summers), though I’m loving Home 231’s wine list, which also offers more interesting selections for both red and white wine lovers.

Nothing beats fresh vegetables in the summer, and I would recommend pairing that glass of vino with a shared Roasted Vegetable Board.
From the Shares (apps!) section, I am a sucker (ugh no pun intended) for octopus, always, and for those of you reducing meat in your lives, I heard the table more than 6 feet away from me raving about the Nashville Hot Cauliflower.

On the Greens side, I can resist a twist on a Caesar, like the Brussels Sprout Caesar topped with pretzel croutons.
Home 231 offers daily entree specials, including a featured fish and Butcher’s Cut. My husband can’t resist a Bone-In Pork Chop — this version seasoned with adobo and served with Calabasa Mashed, shaved Brussels Sprouts, red onion, and radish.
Veg fans must try the Beet Bolognese, made with beets, eggplant, capers, and avocado over bucatini.
