Refreshing, health-conscious, sparkling bevs are the name of the game, and Bon VIV Spiked Seltzer is here to play.
Look, I don’t do the Claw. As an avid La Croix and Polar sparkling water drinker, I didn’t exactly “get” adding booze — at first.
The hard seltzer category is expanding — but did you know that Bon V!V was first?
There were some hard times in the beginning — a name that wasn’t appealing, a recipe heavy in sugar. Let’s call it an “identity crisis.”
I talked to Ashley Yu, Director, Beyond Beer – Northeast at Anheuser-Busch, about Bon VIV Spiked Seltzer’s evolution (and some other “Beyond Beer” fun — more on that soon enough).
“We are the leader in beer, we had to be the leader in seltzer,” Ashley said.

Why Spiked Seltzer is having a moment
Bon VIV is on its way, designed for those of us who are seeking an adult beverage that can seamlessly become part of our lifestyle.
Gone are the days of closing down the bars (bye, did that plenty), and with a toddler (and being over 40), hangovers are a survival impossibility. Instead, I want something fun but not too complicated, a beverage that’s easy to drink but won’t knock me out.
Enter spiked seltzer.
Like many other women, I want a sparkling beverage that feels refreshing, tastes good, and isn’t going to cost me.
Ideally, we don’t want something amped up with sugar and chemicals, which can contribute not only to weight gain but other health issues, or too high in alcohol that I can’t crack one open at “happy hour,” with my kiddo nearby.

Bon VIV Fast Facts

It’s a perfect — and portable — part of a health-conscious lifestyle.
In fact, as Bon VIV has come into its own, Ashley tells me, its growth is co-ed.
Grapefruit and Clementine Hibiscus are my go-to favorites, but Bon VIV comes in eight flavors.
The original multipack features Mango, Black Cherry, and Grapefruit. A new-this-summer Bon VIV Spiked Seltzer Blends pack includes Lemon Lime, Pear Elderflower, Clementine Hibiscus, and Coconut Pineapple.
Cranberry is the latest, which I can’t wait to get my hands on, and look for a special Raspberry Lychee coming in 2021.
