Should I get lash extensions?

4 Reasons to try lash extensions with The Lash Lounge in Mechanicsburg.

Written in partnership with The Lash Lounge Mechanicsburg. Opinions are my own.

As the world slowed down, so did my already minimal beauty routine. I worked from home even pre-pandemic, so sweats and the bare-faced look have been mine for a long time.

Obvious it’s gotten a bit more extreme without in-person meetings or hosting get-togethers or events.

However, I’m ready for a change. While I don’t know that I’ll ever fully forego sweats in the workplace, I am interested in looking better on the fly. I’m wearing better lounge looks (even some real pants occasionally!) and am trying to look more put-together in general.

Here are a few reasons I considered lash extensions:

1 | Eye makeup or “above the mask” lewks are in for 2021

We’ll be wearing masks more consistently through spring and likely through fall before enough people are vaccinated. That’s going to mean showcasing style on the eyes. I have never been big on eye makeup (past mascara), so getting eyelash extensions to accentuate my eyes is appealing.

2 | Low maintenance looks are still ideal

Look, I’m a busy mom trying to run a small business, and I’d rather not be bothered to blow dry my hair or pack too much into a makeup routine. I’d rather focus on a good cut and a solid skincare practice. Lash extensions will mean I can forego the mascara and still look “camera ready.”

3 | Self-care “Me Time”

Honestly, one of my hesitations about lash extensions is the time commitment. Fills could be needed biweekly (as your eyelashes naturally shed), but outside of my workouts, there is very little “me time” in my life right now. It’s difficult, but I’m pushing myself to try this and the time commitment.

4 | Previously held belief: Lash extension are too bold for me

Before I learned about The Lash Lounge Mechanicsburg, I thought that lash extensions had one look. That glam look is gorgeous and looks great on lots of women, but let’s face it — it’s not me (see above low maintenance look!).

Instead, I learned that eyelash extensions can come in a variety of styles, materials, and applications. An amplified natural look is possible! All of these reasons had me ready to try lash extensions.

Get a consultation

The Lash Lounge in Mechanicsburg offers a variety of full set eyelash extensions from natural to extreme volume, allowing you to completely customize your lashes for the look that works for you.

Before you book your full set, you can make an appointment for a consultation with a stylist.

Much of the question and answer session will be done prior to any full-set application, but if, like me, you’re a bit unsure if lash extensions are for you, this will help break everything down.

When I arrived for my consultation, I was greeted warmly by The Lash Lounge staff, had my temperature taken, and was given a brief form to complete. This simply detailed my history with lashes (minimal) and any potential health conditions that could affect the process.

Once completed, my stylist, Jasmyne, took me back to her station to go over my options and make the best selections for my lash extensions.

Each lash application is completely customizable to the customer. So you can choose the lash material, the application, and the style. It’s 100% unique to you, based on your preferences and the look you’re going for.

My full set of lash extensions is booked at The Lash Lounge, and I’m excited to share this experience with you!
