La Cultura celebrates Juneteenth in Harrisburg

Share Article

Harrisburg Juneteenth Celebrations kick off on Monday and run through June 20.

Local event space-slash-community builder La Cultura is leading the charge with 10 events over the course of this week, culminating in the two-day Minding My Own Black Business Block Party.

The Block Party features 100 Black-Owned Businesses over two days in two blocks of Midtown Harrisburg.

Did you know that it’s estimated that one dollar stays within the Black community for just six hours compared to 20 days in the Asian community, 30 days in the Jewish community — and nearly unlimitedly in the white community?

It’s this statistic that inspired La Cultura to host “Minding My Black-Owned Business(es)” for Juneteenth 2021.

Over Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19, local Black entrepreneurs will create an outdoor open market space at La Cultura.

Guests are encouraged to bring a chair and enjoy the day, which in addition to shopping local Black-owned businesses, will include food, music, a fashion show, double-dutch competition, and more.

I (Sara Bozich) have sponsored $300 in LC Bucks (La Cultura Bucks!) that will be circulated at the event! Go and check out this great Harrisburg Juneteenth event — as well as those happening leading up to this weekend!
