The seltzer market is pretty packed, filled with countless options for buzzy, bubbly, light, and refreshing beverages for adults.

Why are spiked seltzers so popular? I think it’s the combination of the rise in non-alcoholic, non-soda options paired with their easy-drinking alcoholic counterpart — low-ABV, lightly flavored. It’s not beer, it’s not wine, it’s not quite a cocktail. Selters a ready-to-drink option in an attractive, slim can that begs to be cracked open wherever you are.

However, they’re not all equal. I’ve done some sampling and can tell you that PRESS rises above.

Woman-founded, woman-owned

PRESS Premium Alcohol Seltzer is the creation of Amy Walberg, who founded the company in 2015 after exhausting a search for a quality alcoholic seltzer in the market.

Amy began experimenting with flavor profiles, and created PRESS’ first flavor, Pomegranate Ginger, in her home kitchen in Milwaukee — in-between her full-time jobs in advertising and raising two young children!

She connected with a beverage manufacturer through a friend of a friend, and she bravely left her corporate job to focus on PRESS. It paid off! Today, PRESS is a top 10 in the seltzer category and is available nationwide.

How PRESS is different

PRESS stands out of the crowd first by its visuals. The slim, matte white cans are understated and sophisticated. The cans look equally elevated on a bar cart and in-hand.

Next, its culinary flavor profiles offer nuances and interest beyond sweet fruits. PRESS comes in eight flavors: Apple Cinnamon, Blackberry Hibiscus, Grapefruit Cardamom, Lime Lemongrass, Lingonberry Elderflower, Pear Chamomile, Pineapple Basil, and Pomegranate Ginger.

(My personal favorites are Grapefruit Cardamom and Lingonberry Elderflower.)

Thankfully, PRESS’s lower ABV (4%) allows both for a sessionable experience and for its complex and subtle flavor notes to shine.

I’m not the only fan, either.

Chowhound.com named PRESS the best-tasting hard seltzer, and Food52.com called it a “close second,” in its review. Additional accolades include “Best of the Best 2019” from BestProducts.com, one of Martha Stewart Living’s “favorite woman-owned food brands,” and swept as “Best Hard Seltzer” at Seltzerland.

PRESS not only impresses in look and taste. It also leads as the only female-founded and female-owned seltzer brand among the top 10 in the male-dominated category. And while many seltzer brands are adding lemonades, teas, and sodas to their portfolios, PRESS remains committed to seltzer as its sole product offering. This focus enables PRESS to continue growing its loyal following and slaying seltzer awards across the country.
