In-person events to return to Midtown Scholar Bookstore, starting this month

Midtown Scholar Bookstore just announced they are returning to in-person events, starting at the end of January! Personally, the independent bookstore’s ability to hop online and keep up with these great author chats — in some cases reeling in some even bigger names thanks to the virtual format — was impressive! Midtown Scholar will continue to stream the in-person events online as well.

7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28 – Novelist Jessamine Chan discusses and signs copies of her debut novel, The School For Good Mothers. Chan’s novel was recently optioned by Jessica Chastain for a television series and was selected by Jenna Bush Hager as the Today Show’s book club pick of the month for January. Chan will be in conversation with #1 New York Times bestselling author (and central PA local!!) Kate Baer. Register here.

7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4 – #1 New York Times bestselling author Daniel Pink on his new book, The Power of Regret: How Looking Backward Moves Us Forward. Pink’s book made Forbes’s 10 Must-Read Career and Leadership Books for 2022.

7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18 – Renowned scholar Imani Perry discusses her new book, South to America: A Journey Below the Mason-Dixon to Understand the Soul of a Nation. Perry will be in conversation with scholar-activist Yaba Blay. Perry is the Hughes-Rogers Professor of African American Studies at Princeton University.

Midtown Scholar is taking strict measures to ensure a healthy and safe environment for attendees, authors, and staff. In-person attendees must show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 for entrance to the events, masks will be required, and cafe beverages and food will not be available during the event. Midtown Scholar requires registration; limited capacity. In addition, the in-person events will continue to be live-streamed via zoom to accommodate attendees who wish to stay at home.
