What is sip @ soma? What is SoMa Harrisburg?
If you missed sip @ soma last week, fear not — we’re lined up all year long to showcase Pennsylvania breweries, wineries, distilleries, and more in the SoMa (SOuth of MArket St.) neighborhood of downtown Harrisburg.
What is sip @ soma?
Sip @ SoMa (we say it, “sip at soma”) is a pop-up guest tasting room concept.
It started three years ago at 13 S. Third St., and throughout 2019, we welcomed breweries throughout Pennsylvania for a guest stay to sell their beer (and in some cases, cider or wine) and share their stories with Harrisburg-area customers.
After a successful year (and then … you know), Boneshire Brew Works from Harrisburg leased the space for a second taproom.

Boneshire Taps @ SOMA
Boneshire Taps @ SOMA opened in spring 2021 at 13 S. Third St., Harrisburg. The intimate space has 12 taps featuring Boneshire’s own craft beers. It is open 4-10 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 12-10 p.m. Saturday.

sip @ soma | 23 S. Third St.
In late 2021, the buildout for 23 S. Third St. — now sip @ soma — was completed. The space features a bar with four taps plus a display cooler for packaged items. There is ample seating and standing room and a small stage for live music, which we host during 3rd in the Burg Fridays. During warmer months, you can enjoy brews on the back patio as well.
Breweries are booked for two-night visits during 3rd in the Burg Fridays and the preceding Thursdays through 2022.

sip @ 17 | 17 S. Third. St.
In-between Boneshire and sip @ soma is a new space “sip @ 17” (we say “sip at seventeen”) that offers seating and a portable bar. It’s geared more towards hosting Pennsylvania wineries and distilleries.
These vendors also are booked in conjunction with sip @ soma for two-night visits during 3rd in the Burg Fridays and the preceding Thursdays through 2022.

3rd in the Burg in SoMa Harrisburg
During 3rd in the Burg — the third Friday of each month, a citywide celebration of Harrisburg’s small businesses — we’ve booked food trucks for the block, plus live music inside sip @ soma. Boneshire Brew Works also is open these evenings.
SoMa Harrisburg transforms to “Tasting Room Row” with three tasting rooms to visit, plus food, and more on 3rd in the Burg Fridays.
Please note, the street is not closed for these events. See SoMa Block Party Series below for those special events!

What else is happening in SoMa Harrisburg?
SoMa Harrisburg is an up-and-coming neighborhood. In addition to the tasting rooms, Stash Vintage and The Midtown Dandy share a shop at 11 S. Third St. El Sol Mexican Restaurant is open at 22 S. Third St., and The International House is around the corner on Chestnut St. At the corner of S. Third and Chestnut, you can’t miss the construction of Harrisburg University’s 11-story Health Science Education Center.
There are ample residential living spaces in SoMa Harrisburg, too.
Several gorgeous murals brighten up buildings in SoMa Harrisburg, including two in Blackberry Alley.

SoMa Block Party Series
The SoMa Block Party Series debuted in 2017 to commemorate the new lights strung across S. Third St. We had so much fun, we brought it back in 2018 and 2019. However, due to construction on Third St., the parties occurred in Blackberry Alley behind International House.
We’re back on S. Third St. for 2022 and have six events lined up. Each will feature live music, multiple food trucks, and great Pennsylvania wine, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic options — all under the lights.
Please note, S. Third St. is closed for these events.
