Nothin’ but a good time at Dutch Apple with ‘Rock of Ages’

Rock of Ages at Dutch Apple

While Dutch Apple brought Broadway staple Singin’ in the Rain to the stage last month, it’s sharing a different type of “classic” for its next production.

Rock of Ages (rock and) rolled into Lancaster last weekend, bringing along all the big hair, big fashion, and big energy of the 80s’ with it.

Fueled by beloved classic rock hits, the musical delivers audiences to the Sunset Strip, where everywhere you look, someone is trying to make it as the next big hair metal band or blockbuster celebrity.

Leads Dale Obermark and Ellie Roddy are charming as the story’s aspiring stars, and the rest of the highly talented cast keeps the crowd laughing and clapping along with the entire show.

From the set design to the dance numbers, this is one of the best shows I’ve seen at Dutch Apple, and it’s definitely one of the most electric productions I’ve witnessed in the local theatre scene. Rock of Ages is sassy and loud, making it known that this is not your average dinner theatre show.

I love seeing traditional theater songs come to life on stage, and it’s even more fun to hear rock royalty like Journey, Poison, and Bon Jovi in the theater, too! It’s hard not to love a show that closes with Don’t Stop Believin’.

If you’re nostalgic for all things ’80s and ready to party, I highly recommend checking it out. Wear your best vintage band t-shirt. Kudos to Dutch Apple for stepping outside its comfort zone, “I’ve been waiting for a show” like this!

Rock of Ages runs through May 14, so grab your tickets ASAP.

And don’t forget, Mother’s Day is coming up! Treat your mom with tickets for an upcoming local theatre performance, or dinner and a show.

Which show should I check out next? Let us know over on Facebook.

As always, check out the theatre’s social media channels and websites for up-to-date COVID-19 and safety protocols.
