The best block party in the city is BACK for 2023!

I’m excited to announce the return of the SoMa Block Party series for 2023! Back for a sixth year, the SoMa [South of Market] Block Party series showcases the South of Market, or SoMa, district in downtown Harrisburg.

The monthly outdoor event series kicks off from 7-10 p.m. on Thursday, May 18.

SoMa Block Parties take place on S. Third St., between Market and Chestnut Streets, in downtown Harrisburg. During the event, the street is open for pedestrian traffic, and the businesses along S. Third St. are open, including Stash Vintage x Midtown Dandy, Boneshire Taproom at SOMA, Tamara Boutique, El Sol, and sip @ soma.

Each Block Party features a variety of vendors, including craft breweries and wineries, food trucks, a live band, non-alcoholic beverage vendors, yard games, and more fun.

Events are free to attend and are family- and dog-friendly!

This season’s musical lineup features Mark DeRose & the Dreadnoughts (May), Collinsville Discount Band (June), Nate Myers & the Aces (July), Funktion (August), and Little Brother Band (Sept.)

Harristown has invested over $20 million in the SoMa district over the past 20 years, which now includes Stash-Midtown Dandy vintage thrift boutique, Boneshire Taps @ SoMa, El Sol Mexican Restaurant, Veterans Multi-Service Outreach offices, the Harrisburg Soniqs “LAN Gaming Center,” the Narҫisse Theatre Company, and over 160 renovated apartments.  In addition, the UPMC Health Sciences Tower at Harrisburg University’s $100 Million 11-story project is almost complete and getting ready for occupancy.
