Young Professionals of Color Harrisburg kick-off a series of events this week celebrating Juneteenth.

YPOC’s Emancipation Celebration Week kicks off Saturday, June 10, and goes through Sunday, June 18. 

Juneteenth Conference featuring Marc Lamont Hill | June 10

Discover new ideas and opportunities for your future during this full day of interactive discussions on Black history, home ownership, health and wellness, business, and community development. Author, activist, and former CNN and Fox News commentator Marc Lamont Hill is the conference’s keynote speaker. The Juneteenth Conference is held at the National Civil War Museum. Topixx Tuesday | June 13

Meet YPOC at the capital steps for some music and fun as they kick off the week! Come hear from representatives from the community, county, and state about the importance of this Juneteenth observation!

Black Performance Arts & Music Showcase | June 14

Join YPOC for a night of celebration, culture, and diversity for the Black Performance Arts Mashup at the Narçisse Theatre Company at 312 Chestnut St. in Harrisburg. Experience an electrifying showcase of performances, featuring talented black artists from diverse backgrounds, including dance, music, spoken word, and more. This event is designed to celebrate the rich history and cultural heritage of the African American community and honor the legacy of Juneteenth. Doors at 6:30 p.m.; show starts at 7 p.m.

Evolution: The Revision of Black Art Expo | June 15

Visit the Susquehanna Art Museum for this family-friendly event to commemorate the Juneteenth holiday. Local artists showcase their art, guiding attendees through the past, present, and future of Black history through their eyes. Art will be hung throughout the space, open and available to be seen and loved by attendees. Attendees will also be able to participate in our interactive paint session. This event was created to open the stage for all to see art with new eyes and be open to the richness that is Black History. Held 5-9 p.m. June 15 at Susquehanna Art Museum.

Juneteenth at sip @ soma | June 16

Celebrate Juneteenth in SoMa with YPOC, HYP, and Sara Bozich. Pop-Up tasting room, sip @ soma (23 S. 3rd St. Harrisburg) will feature Sly Fox Brewing, live music from Shine Delphi, art from Cat the Creator, 717 Tacos on-site, plus a variety of vendors. Juneteenth Summer of Soul Celebration Concert | June 17

YPOC and JuneteenthHBG TEAM presents: The Juneteenth “Summer of Soul“  Celebration Concert at XL Live in Harrisburg! Featuring the star studded “Summer of Soul” performances by Soul For Real, SHAI, MICHEL’LE,  Jeff Redd, and Reneé Neufville of Zhane. Doors at 7 p.m. Get tickets – just $10! – here.

Juneteenth HBG Jubilee | June 18

A family-centered, fully accessible guest and community experience for all. This year, YPOC will highlight small, Black-owned businesses and offer plenty of family-friendly activities including STEAM activities, bounce houses, a petting zoo experience, and more! A variety of vendors will be on-hand to provide the community with local resource organizations. Soul Steaks food truck will also be on-site as well as other food vendors. The Juneteenth Jubilee is 12-6 p.m. at HACC.
