If you’re looking for something a little different (and a lot of fun) to do with the family, let me introduce you to one of Central PA’s most underrated nights out: BAPS Motor Speedway.
Just a quick drive from Harrisburg, BAPS brings big energy, loud engines, and that classic summer-night feel – without the big-ticket price tag. It’s the kind of place where kids can be kids, adults can actually relax, and everyone leaves a little dusty and smiling.
Why BAPS is worth a visit
- Kids are always FREE (yes, always 🙌 – and ages 12-18 are just $5)
- It’s surprisingly family-friendly – early evening start times, open seating, and a very laid-back vibe
- Affordable, local, and easy – no overthinking required. Pack a cooler or hit up the snack bar at Turn 1
- A totally different kind of night out (and honestly… pretty exciting even if you’re new to racing)
Whether you’re a longtime fan or have never stepped foot at a track, this is one of those experiences that just feels very Central PA summer.
BAPS is a big community supporter — this past weekend, they hosted a 14,000-egg Easter Egg Hunt for families, loaded with candies, toys, and prizes.
This May, they’ll host their second annual Carnival Food Festival, and in September, they’ll host Lantern Fest. Plus, they host National Night Out in August for the entire community. This weekend, Saturday’s races coincide with Cub Scout Night.
